How Your Planning Is Working Against You

Solo Warriors When you work alone on something big, you have no team to hand tasks to. Planning and tracking every detail can become a blocker. If you create a long list of perfect tasks for yourself, you often delay the actual work of doing them. The Change of Flow At the start of a project or habit, you do not know much. You learn most of what you need by beginning. A vague, imperfect plan is better than a detailed and perfectly crafted one. The limited context you have at the beginning will almost certainly change and grow as you move forward. So Why Do I Even Plan? Planning still helps. It breaks a large piece of work into smaller steps. This may sound like it contradicts the earlier point, but it does not. Here, “plan” means gathering just enough information to start. Beginning with a simple plan often teaches you more about the subject than endless planning ever could. Make a plan good enough to get you moving.
